Note: This tutorial has been carried out in Adobe Photoshop CS5. Some functions may be different in older versions.
Final Result:

1) Open a new document with the following settings:

2) Select the Gradient Tool.
3) Now, go to the Tools Option Bar, and make sure that your settings are the same as shown below:

4) Next, click on the gradient that is encircled by red in the image above. This opens up the Gradient Editor:

5) Click on the little icon on the extreme left of the slider (circled by red in the image below):

6) Change the Color to Black:

7) Look for the small red arrow in the image below. Bring your cursor around that point and left-click.

This adds a new stop to the slider.
8) Just like Step 6, change the Color to #416652:

9) Just like Step 7, click on different points on the slider to create three more stops.
10) Change the Color of the stops to #021d21, #021d21, and, #155860, respectively.

11) Change the Color of the stop on the extreme right to #01191d:

12) Rearrange your stops to match, approximately, the stops in the image below:

13) Click OK.
14) Using the Gradient Tool, draw a vertical line starting from the top of the document and ending on the base of the document. This should create this background:

15) Open a new layer and Fill (SHIFT+F5) this layer with 50% Gray.
16) With this new layer still selected, change its Layer Style to Overlay.

17) Select the Text Tool and make sure you have the following settings:

18) Type the text “CLOVERFIELD” right in the center of the document.
19) Next, with the text layer still selected, press CTRL+J, twice. This creates two copies of the text layer.
20) Select the layers: CLOVERFIELD and CLOVERFIELD Copy.
21) Press CTRL+T. Now, from the Tools Option Bar above, change the Height to 98%.

22) Change the Layer Style of both, CLOVERFIELD, and CLOVERFIELD Copy, to Linear Dodge (Add).
23) Right-click the original layer, CLOVERFIELD, and select Rasterize Type.

24) Repeat Step 23 for the layer: CLOVERFIELD Copy.
25) Select the original layer: CLOVERFIELD. Go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur, make the following changes, and click OK:

26) With the original layer still selected, go to the Layers Panel on your right, and change the Fill to 17%.
27) Select the layer: CLOVERFIELD Copy. Go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur, make the following changes, and click OK:

28) With the layer CLOVERFIELD Copy still selected, go to the Layers Panel on your right, and change the Fill to 27%.
That’s it, babe. Final Result:
